The College Council is accountable for the overall governance of the College. The Council:
- sets the strategic direction for the College;
- ensures legislated and regulatory requirements are met;
- ensures that College business is efficiently carried out under the direction of the CEO/Registrar; and,
- approves all fees and charges for the College.
Council is composed of a minimum of two members each from EMR, EMT and EMT-P and twenty-five percent (25%) public appointees. Practitioners are voted to Council at the Annual General Meeting. Public appointees are chosen from a pool of qualified candidates by Alberta Health and Wellness and serve three year terms. The Council President, Vice President, and Treasurer are elected from Council membership.
