The Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP) defines the scope of practice for practitioners in Alberta. It is a complete description of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and judgements expected of practitioners ranging from entry to practice to mastery.
In addition, the AOCP acts as a foundation for the College’s Continuing Competency Program. The AOCP was created through the consensus of paramedicine practitioners registered with the College. The AOCP complies with the requirements of the Health Professions Act and meets the needs of the Health Disciplines Act in specifying scope of practice for paramedic practitioners in Alberta.
