In order to legally practice in Alberta, all Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), and Emergency Medical Technologist-Paramedics (EMT-P) must register with the Alberta College of Paramedics.

Registration Process
- Successfully complete an approved EMR, EMT or EMT-P program OR receive approval from the Registration Committee through the equivalency process;
- Successfully complete the Provincial Registration Exam; and,
- Register with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
Important: successful completion of the exam and registration with the College must be achieved within one year of graduating from an approved program.
All other applicants must follow the appropriate equivalency process in order to successfully register with the College.
